The 33rd Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) started yesterday, with an Indian touch. The inaugural ceremony was held at the capital"s opera house and saw the screening of Kabir Khan's 'New York', starring John Abraham, Katrina Kaif and Neil Mukesh.

The festival is a 10-day long event, which will be held between November 14 and 20 and Indian cinema will be the guest of honour here.

The festival will give stage to nearly 25 Indian films and several high profiled Indian and international film celebrities and filmmakers will be there. Besides this, three competitions will be organised and many personalities will be honoured - among which are said to be Anil Kapoor and Irrfan Khan for their film 'Slumdog Millionaire'. The jury members include ace filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan as the Chairman, along with Victor Okhai and Nour El Sherif. Also, the festival will witness screening of about 150 movies from across 67 countries.

It is reported that Madhur Bhandarkar's five films - 'Chandni Bar', 'Page 3', 'Corporate', 'Traffic Signal' and 'Fashion' - will be screened during the course of the fest.

It's worthy to mention that earlier, in September, Madhur's films were showcased during the Moscow International Film Festival.
