To celebrate the 50-year film journey of Kamal Haasan, Star Vijay will organise month-long events across Tamil Nadu.

Announcing this at a press meet here on Sunday, Channel Head K. Sriram said the event, titled Ulaganayagan Kamal Aimbathu Oru Thodarum Sarithiram, will witness activities across the State and invite Indian film industrys top-slot actors to felicitate Kamal Haasan, who entered filmdom in 1959.

Kamal Bus

The first phase of the event will see a customised Kamal Bus, which will travel to various cities attracting his fans. It will visit film trade centres and fan clubs in Tamil Nadu and at Bangalore.
An exclusive photo exhibition featuring rare photographs of Kamal Haasan sourced from the actor himself will be displayed in the bus. A signature campaign, wherein film artists, technicians and fans will sign on long canvases, will also be part of the first phase.

Iyal Isai Nadaga Tiruvizha


An Iyal Isai Nadaga Tiruvizha will be held in the second phase, at Chennai, Madurai, and Coimbatore.
In Madurai, Tamizhum Kamalum, an event that will witness speakers from the literary circle discussing the Kamal Haasans flair for the language, will be conducted on August 30. Kamalum Kadhalum, a musical night featuring the evergreen romantic songs of the actor, will be held at Coimbatore on September 4.

A three-week Kamal Haasan Film Festival will also be organised at Sathyam Cinemas, Chennai.
The channel will host a 16-episode series on his childhood days as an actor, his first passion theatre, and his life in cinema. Some of the inspiring and emotional tales of Kamal Haasan narrated by his contemporaries will be aired.

Rounding off the celebrations, the channel will conduct a mega on-stage event with Kamal Haasan and film stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikant, Shah Rukh Khan, Mammooty, Mohanlal, Sridevi and Chiranjeevi in the second week of September.

Core team members of the event, including actor Sarath Kumar, A.R. Murugadoss, Khushboo, Myshkin, S.P.B. Charan, Yugi Sethu, Cheran, cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran, waxed lyrical on the actors contribution to the film industry.

Murugadoss said Eldams Road should be named after Kamal Haasan as a mark of honour to the actor "who took the Tamil film industry to a global platform."
